The art of building

From his home in a converted 450-tonne car ferry, innovative architect Bjarke Ingels talks about the forces that underpin his work.

Bjarke Ingels has become one of the most  high profile architects of our time. In an interview with Sky-Frame, Ingels talks about his point of view, creating reality, immense courage and the secret behind his unwavering pragmatism.

The interview takes place at Ingels' home – a houseboat moored in the Port of Copenhagen. The conversion of the 450-tonne car ferry into his family home is just another example of the 45-year-old's innovative achievements to date.

In 2019 alone, he and his Bjarke Ingels Group (BIG) team completed as many as 13 projects, including large-scale undertakings such as Copenhill. The zero-emission waste-to-energy plant is the first of its kind in the world – an example of utopia becoming reality.
